TPS61150A: About the RECOMMENDED OPERATING CONDITIONS

Hello,

 

Regarding to the RECOMMENDED OPERATING CONDITIONS on TPS61150A, my customer is asking a question..

They will use four Alkaline batteries(primary) as power supply.

Generally the voltage of Alkaline battery is approximately 1.6V at first status.

So total voltage is approximately 6.4V.

 

(Question)

According to datasheet, RECOMMENDED OPERATING CONDITIONS is 6.0V(max) as power supplies .

In this case, it is exceed to 0.4V at first status. Is there any problem by this battery supply?

    Hi Tao,

    The recommended operating condition considered the varitions of these parameter, to keep it safe and leave some margin, it is better to work in these ratings. But we do have absolute maximum ratings, which is the real maximum voltage, if you exceed these value , device will be damaged. So 6.4V is over  recommended operation condition but still in maximum rating, it wouldn't hurt the device. Customer should evaluate the accuracy and variation of power supply voltage, to keep it below 7V.
