Adam Smith28

Hi all. I am looking for help to cross reference an old 80's transistor with the numbers 8745 80543A . It is on a 12v DC automobile heater/ac blower motor switch circuit for variable speed control. I want to replace it with anything current instead of having to purchase the entire switch module which is very expensive since it is bmw. Thanks for any help

Hello Adam,

I admire your pursuit of repairing this module. First, marking on the xstr is BD543A, not 80543A. TI no longer makes such devices, however, I see suppliers such as Mouser do have stock, as well as ebay. Bourns also made this xstr (also obsolete), and you can easily find a datasheet if so desired.

Thank you Leonard. I got so wrapped up by lack of info on google search I had forgotten about letter designations on transistors and didn't even go back and look closely at the transistor. Since the price on the module is close $300 the motivation to repair is there. Not sure the xstr is the problem or the pot went out so once I remove them will have a better idea.

I hate trouble you but maybe you know of a replacement TO-220 that is not obsolete and available, limited options on ebay etc.

Unfortunately, no, I was only able to find the references I previously provided.
