LM25066EVK: Can't Install PI Commander GUI

Part Number: LM25066EVK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM25066

I downloaded the TI PI Commander GUI for my LM25066 Hot Swap Controller Evaluation Board, and the file type just shows up as type "file". It is not a .zip or .exe and my computer can't open it. Do you know how I can resolve this?

  • Hi Christopher,

Where did you try to grab the latest software? We may have an outdated link.

The most reliable location for all of our collateral is at: www.ti.com/hotswap.

Under the "Tools & Software" tab, we have the PI-Commander GUI.

After installation, under the start menu --> Texas Instruments --> Advanced --> FTDI --> Install Drivers may be needed if the drivers with the EVM do not load automatically.

Feel free to check out this blog for some additional tips and tricks (such as how to view the Raw I2C traffic log):

In my last blog , I walked through how to simplify a robust hot swap design using online design calculator tools. In this post, we’ll look at using the PI-Commander GUI as another means to help design…

    Thanks!

  • Hi Alex,

I downloaded the PI Commander software from the link you provided and I cannot install the software.
    It downloads as "slvc572".
When viewing the file properties in Windows Explorer, it shows "Type of file: File".
Should this file be of type .exe or .zip?

    Thanks,
    Chris
  • Hey Chris,

I just gave it a try and it seems to be working for me. It is downloading as an slvc572.zip and inside the zip is one file, a PI-Commander-0.8.4-674-setup.exe

So you may be able to rename the file extension to a .zip and give it a shot, but otherwise I'm curious if it's related to which browser and version you are using. Perhaps trying a newer edition IE / Chrome / Firefox may help.

Let us know if you continue to have trouble and we'll do our best to find a solution.

    Thanks!
    Alex
  • Thanks Alex, just renamed the file with a .zip extension and that worked!
