BQ51025: BQ51025 FOD test question

Part Number: BQ51025

I have bought AVID FOD transmitter but have some questions about the FOD test.

1. Do I need to calibrated FOD transmitter by myself before FOD test or AVID have been calibrated the FOD transmitter?

2. Is the Ploss range -350mw~0 or 350mw~0? which one is right? I thought -350mW is right but I read the test log of FOD GUI manual, the Ploss is positive, now I am very confused.

3. I read the GUI manual "Received power is must higher than transmitted power", when I run the test the PPT is higher than PPR, Could you help to explan?

4. when Iload is 0mA, Is PPR must be 0mW? when i test the demo  board, Iload is 0mA, but the PPR is not 0mw, could you help to analyze the reason?

5. when I run the BQ51025 demo FOD test ( demo is no-load), the Ploss about -400mw? Is the value out of spec.?

  • Hi User
I have copied your question and attached answer below.

    1. Do I need to calibrated FOD transmitter by myself before FOD test or AVID have been calibrated the FOD transmitter? -- The AVID FOD TX has been calibrated and is ready to use.

    2. Is the Ploss range -350mw~0 or 350mw~0? which one is right? I thought -350mW is right but I read the test log of FOD GUI manual, the Ploss is positive, now I am very confused. --- Ploss will be a negative number, RX will over report the amount of power received.

    3. I read the GUI manual "Received power is must higher than transmitted power", when I run the test the PPT is higher than PPR, Could you help to explan?-------After calibration the RX will over report power received and PPR should be higher.

    4. when Iload is 0mA, Is PPR must be 0mW? when i test the demo board, Iload is 0mA, but the PPR is not 0mw, could you help to analyze the reason?-----When Iload is 0mA PPR will report power. PPR is reporting power out (0mA) + loss in rectifiers / regulator + AC loss in coil / shield.

    5. when I run the BQ51025 demo FOD test ( demo is no-load), the Ploss about -400mw? Is the value out of spec.?---This is possible, tuning of FOD needs to be most accurate at higher loads due to the field strength.
