BQ24296: BQ24296RGET High Output Ripple

Part Number: BQ24296

Dear all

Our BQ24296RGET

Is yelding a very high output ripple, and it is worst if we attach the battery, Layout it´s very fine so we are not able to find a reasonable solution

Configuration is standalone (Not powered from USB), its powered from a 5V 4A  ap65400 DCDC (10mv Ripple)

THis is for an important automotive proyect  ...

SCHEMATIC

OUTPUT RIPPLE (WITHOUT BATTERY ATTACHED)

OUTPUT RIPPLE (WITH 1000mA BATTERY ATTACHED)

PMID RIPPLE (DC VALUE = 5.0v)

  • 1) It is normal for STAT pin blinking when no battery plugged in and no SYS load. There’s no fault. When battery is not connected and charge is enabled, the device tries to regulate VBAT to battery charge limit (e.g. 4.208V), then terminate, after certain time VBAT may drop below recharge threshold, device will charge VBAT to charge voltage again, so the charger status switches between charging and charging complete and STAT pin blinks. If the user disables charge, STAT pin will not blinks any more.

    2) PMID is the power input for the charger. Did you place the PMID carp as close as possible to the PMID pin of the IC?

If possible, please evaluate bq24296 EVM with the same test conditions and compare the test results. Thank you very much!

  • PMID CAP placement it´s fine
