BQ24172: BQ24172 Vinmin set

Part Number: BQ24172

Hi team,

My customer is using the BQ24172 now. The output is 12v, we want to check the min input voltage.

The datasheet says the Dmax can be 97%. Do you have some suggestions about the input voltage?

Thanks.

BR

  • Hi,

Yes, the maximum duty cycle before pulse skipping starts is 97%.

In order for the IC to charge the input voltage must be greater than the SRN voltage. The SRN is the charge current sense resistor negative input.

The battery is connected to the system by defualt. The IC will automatically switch between Battery and Adapter (Input Voltage). In order for the transistion from battery to adapter to begin, the voltage on the input must increase the AVCC voltage to be at least 300mV greater than the SRN voltage. So I suggest that the input voltage be greater than 12.3V.

Please refer to sections 9.3.9 and 9.3.10 of the datasheet for more information.

    Regards,

    Joe
