LM5170-Q1: the limitation of changing the mode.

Part Number: LM5170-Q1

Hi

Our customer have some external components for changing the Frequency and Phase and Dead time.

1. Is there any sequence(or timing) to change the frequency at OSC pin?

They would like to change the frequency from MCU. So that there are some resistor and switch in parallel at OSC pin. They turn on the switch to chose the resistor for the required frequency.

They would like to know there is no sequence or some limitation of the sequence to change the frequency by Rosc.

2. Is there any sequence(or timing) to change the phase at OPT pin?

They would like to change the phase when it's operating.  Because their configuration is that the number of the phase is different in the each direction.

3.Is there any sequence(or timing) to change the dead time at DT pin?

This is the same as #1 question. It is not the adaptive dead time mode. There are some resistor(Rdt) and switch to select the DT.

Please let me know if you have any question.

  • 1. OSC pin resistor can be changed dynamically. No particular sequence required. However, in no time should the OSC pin be grounded or OPEN.
    2. OPT should be changed at the same time as a phase is added or dropped, in order to get a quick settle down to the new interleaving operation.
    3. No particular sequence to change the DT pin resistor. We just don't recommend to set the DT pin to GND or OPEN.
