TPS54360: Pre-bias start up

Part Number: TPS54360

Does TPS54360 support pre-bias start up?
Is it no problem because this is non-synchronous DCDC converter?

Please let me know if you have any concern.

Kohei Sasaki

  • Hello Kohei-san

You are correct that any non-synchronously rectified buck will not have an issue starting up into a pre-biased output.

Only synchronously rectified regulators would have a problem with this, and it would be the types that have a control section that permit reverse inductor current.

The synchronously rectified regulators that implement "diode emulation mode" are designed not have any issue with start-up into a per-biased output.
