Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO
I have a custom board with bq40z60 in a 4-cell setup. It has gone through a learning cycle.
The board is functional - it discharges and charges correctly.
The issue came up during normal use without the charger plugged in.
After normal operations on battery, the battery level was still showing 100%. After the charger was plugged in, the remaining capacity dropped to below 10% and started charging.
I believe the issue comes from RSOC, FCC, and RemCap not being updated. The technical manual says that the following conditions need to be met for an update:
• QMax update occurs
• Ra update occurs
• At onset of charge and discharge
• At exit of discharge
• Every 5 hours in RELAX mode
• If temperature changes more than 5°C
With bqStudio, I confirmed that the charging current was being sensed correctly but when the battery was discharging during normal operation, the current reading was 0.
What would be causing the discharging current to read 0 while correctly reading charging current?
Thank you
