BQ24650: Solar Charge Controller Design

Hi Francisco,

bq24650 could meet the 12V/6V lead-acid battery and your solar panels requirement.

Would 12V/6V exist simultaneously or it could accept 6V or 12V battery?

Thank you for reply, the idea is that solar charge controller support 6V or 12V battery, not simultaneously, i'm not sure if i need different circuits for 12V or 6V batteries.

For the difference between 12V and 6V, you have to change the charging voltage and current for these two design. Also bq24650 is Buck charger, it cannot charge 12V battery through 9V solar panel.

when i use 12V Batteries, the solar panels are actually of 18V /5 Watt, for 6V batteries are 9V/3 Watt, the schematic proposed on the datasheet of BQ24650 is all i could need ?
I need to make special changes on design if i use Lead- Acid or Li-on batteries (In case of use any of both)?

Hi Francisco,

Basically you have two circuit(or 4 if you use different battery on different voltage). You need to change charging voltage/current (Lead-acid/Li-ion), MPPSET threshold. You may need some logic control circuit and detection to change the configuration.
