UCC28180: PCL fuction

Part Number: UCC28180

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask UCC28180?

The datasheet P17 shows as follows;
"PCL is leading-edge blanked to improve noise immunity against false triggering."
We didn't understand what the word "leading-edge blanked" means.
So, could you let us know the detailed meaning?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Hirotaka-san

    I have asked one of our applications engineers to respond to you post, you should see an answer soon.

  • Hi Hirotaka-san,

    During the turn-ON process there is an initial spike in the sensed current. This initial current spike is the result of charging the Vgs capacitance of the power MOSFET and also discharging the total parasitic capacitance present on the Drain node of the power MOSFET. Leading edge blanking is applied to the PCL comparator output to ensure it does not get false tripped by this initial current spike.

    Thanks
