bq76PL455A-Q1: Battery/wire connections

Part Number: BQ76PL455A-Q1

1. There are multiple BAT0 and BAT16 wires. Where do the extra connections go?

2. If we only use 10 out of the 16 cells, do we short the rest to the highest cell?

  • Hi Brian,

Are you referring to the cable harness for the bq76PL455AQ1 evm?

If so, they go to BAT0 (GND) and BAT16... the wires labeled BAT16S are sense lines, used for the AFE. The wires labeled BAT16 are power lines, used to power VTOP. This is to separate the power lines from sense lines in order to get an accurate measurement on BAT16. The same is true for BAT0...since BAT0 is used as both GND and the "negative" reference for cell 1.

If you are using less than 16cells, you should indeed short all unused VSNS pins to the highest used cell.
