UCD3138A64: Flash Programming/Boot loader on PMBus?

Hello,

I was wondering if there is any application note or any reference material for boot loading application using PMBus (I2C) for the UCD3138A64 digital controller.

In our application, this controller is kind of slave and is controlled by other system. There is an interface from that system to this digital controller in the form of PMBus.

Right now, we are flashing this digital controller in a standalone way but going forward we would like to flash this device from that other system over PMBus.

Any help is much appreciated.

If you need to do PMBus, the easiest way to handle it is to use the existing boot ROM, which is already provided. That way you don't have to use any program flash area for a bootloader. The only reason you need to have a customer bootloader for PMBus interface is if you are restricted to a specific format.

I already did direct you. The boot ROM commands described in the UCD3138 technical reference manual are the boot ROM.

Basically to download a new program, return to ROM mode, send the mass erase command to the boot ROM, followed by lots of the write block commands to write the new program, followed maybe by a calculate checksum command to verify the download, and then send an execute command to execute the new program.

Yes, I will look into this technical reference manual.
What I meant was if you have any application note. I looked at the website, I did not get any!
