TPS23861: does TPS23861 Support UPOE standard?

Part Number: TPS23861

Hi,

does TPS23861 Support UPOE standard?

if no, is there any other PSE device support UPOE standard?

thanks.

  • Hi Max,

TPS23861 does support UPOE. Please refer to the following paragraph found in the TPS23861 FAQ page at:

    e2e.ti.com/.../3489.tps23861-faqs

    • What’s the max power TPS23861 can output? How to achieve higher output power?

Each port has the highest current limit at 920mA. Assuming the port voltage is 57V (maximum according to IEEE standard), the max power of each port is 57V * 0.92A = 52.44W.

If you are looking for high power solutions (ex 60W) with TPS23861, UPoE solution is a good fit. The basic idea is to connect two PSE channels to one RJ45 connecter and deliver power through all 4 pair of the Ethernet cable: one PSE channel connects to pair 12&36 and the other channel connects to pair 45&78. Then the current goes to PD load can be doubled. The TPS23861EVM-612 is a good reference which has two 4-pair ports.

    Thanks,

    Jake Smith
