When the TPS65023 opreates with light loads (<10mA) on DCDC3, does increasing output capacitance force converter into PWM mode, reducing overall ripple voltage?
2. For light loads (<10mA) the DCDC converter will not operate in PWM mode by adding additional output capacitance.
The decision if the converter operates in PWM or PFM mode is done on the average inductor current.
Please have a look at equations (1) and (2) on page 22 of the TPS65023 datsheet.
You can simply force the converter in PWM mode by I2C command.
On the othe hand you can not increase the output capacitance without limit, this will cause instability of the converter.
