BQ501210: Please help to explain the “HVDCP capability”

Hi,

The datasheet shows that it has "HVDCP capability",but it don't explain how to negotiate.

How does bq501210 negotiate for higher input voltage?

Does it support QC2.0 or QC3.0?

If I have a QC2.0 adapter to plug the USB port of BQ501210. What will the Input voltage be?

We use a proprietary algorithm adjusting the D+/D- signals to attempt to negotiate for higher voltage with a variety of adapters. With many we will achieve 9V or 12V. The bq501210 is designed to operate with a 19V input, but can supply the demands of most phones with 9V-12V input. Note --- Unit will start with 5V input but that is only to try and negotiate a higher voltage from adapter. At 5V input phones will not be able to start charging, or will not charge at their maximum rate.
Preferred solution would be a dedicated 19V adapter.

Hi Bill,

About quick charge algorithm ，I know BQ25895 is compatible with a variety of adapters including QC and MTK. Is proprietary algorithm of BQ501210 similar to BQ25895's？
