Set down converter -15V to 24V/100mA

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40210, TPS2420

Is there any device supporting -15Vin to 24Vout/100mA?

Application: Industrial VFD motor

  • Hello Brian,
PMP4742 comes close to what you need.

PMP4742.1 comprises a negative input (-10.8V to -13.2V) to positive output (12V@1A average) inverting buck-boost converter with TPS40210; a hot swap circuit with TPS2420 quickly limits the output current to 2A peak.

    Focus on the TPS40210 circuit.
The Q3 boost fet would need to be rated higher for the -15V input.
    -15 to +24 is 39V boost action.
    Si3438 is 40V rated.

  • Hello again,

The parts in yellow highlight need to have a higher voltage rating for your application.

The blue circled area is the feedback level shifter.

Since Vout is above ground, and the IC is referenced to the negative input, the Vout for feedback must be level shifted down to the TPS40210.

I will close this now but you are still able to reply if needed.
