TPS561208: About TPS561208 output issue

Part Number: TPS561208

Dear,

I am designing a buck power using TPS561208. But in the datasheet the Vin is ranged from 4.5 to 17V, Vout is ranged from 0.76 to 7V.

Why the maximum voltage of Vout is as low as 7V? It should be very close to 17V due to the theory of BUCK topology.

  • Hi,

Good question. TPS561208 is a DCAP2 devices, which could also be call a COT( constant on time) device. It is a kind of hysteretic control mode. The DCAP2 control mode will have an outstanding transient performance under small duty cycle operation. The load transient will become worse when working under big duty cycle. Also, the max duty for TPS561208 is around 80%. This is why we prefer customer to use this device with Vout under 7V.

    Best,

    Anthony
