BQ76920: UL991 Compliance

Part Number: BQ76920
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ7718

Team,

Customer is designing a UL1973-compliant system which requires UL991 compliance. UL991 calls for redundancy or proof of fail safe operation on each critical circuit. Can a battery management system be designed with the BQ76920 and be UL991 compliant? Any documentation would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

Usually the UL requires that the system abide by this so it doesn't directly affect the IC. I couldn't really find this spec online as it is only available for purchase, but i could see that if redundancy is needed, then you will need to work with the customer to know what redundant protection is needed and perhaps we have a protector they can use for 2nd level protection such as the bq7718

    Thanks

    Miguel
