LM3481: Peak Current Control Method

Part Number: LM3481

Hi Sir,

I've saw the datasheet of LM3481. I have a question about the peak current control.

The diagram shows that the peak current control signal comes from the output of EA which compares FB voltage and 1.275V ref.

But in the application it seems the current control signal is the fixed Vsense(160mV) plus slope compensation.

So I would like to know the how to use Vsense signal? Is the current control signal comes from Vsense plus slope or the output of EA plus slope?

Thank you.

Best Regards

Jack Chen

  • It seems you are confused the slope compensation signal and current sense signal. The current sense signal is at the ISEN pin, and it passes through a level shift circuit and feeds to the PWM comparator. In LM3481 the slope compensation signal is substracted from the error voltage (COPM), which is equivalent to superimpose onto the ISEN signal in other devices.
