WEBENCH® Tools/TPS53315: Regulator discrete selection

Part Number: TPS53315

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi,

I am using the regulator TPS53315RGFT in my design.

I want to know regarding the discrete selection, all the Inductor list are of high package size.

Can I go with smaller package and similar specification. Will it effect the efficiency of the regulator circuitry?

What will the maximum change in efficiency expected?

Please let me know the details ASAP.

Regards,

Nibin

  • Normally, you need use a power inductor in your circuit. and the spec. which you need to concern are the IRMS, Isat, Inductance value, size, ESR.
If you can find the smaller package with a similar feature(IRMS, Isat etc.), it's OK. For the efficiency, you need to focus on the ESR, the lower ESR of inductor, the high efficiency.
