BQ25700A: PROCHOT, CMPOUT doubts

Part Number: BQ25700A

Hi,

1) I used the WEBENCH Tool for making the schematic, but there's a difference between this tool and the datashhet. In webench, Q4 SOURCE goes from SW2 pin, and in datasheet, Q4 source goes from DRAIN.

2) On the other hand, I don't understand well how PROCHOT works. How this pin works? Can I leave floating if I don't use it? It can be connected to a microcontroller?

3) What is the use of independent comparator? If I don't use it, I have to leave CMPOUT floating and CMPIN to ground?

4) If OTG is not used, this pin is floating or grounding?

5) ADC information can be read by SMBus?

6) If ILIM_HIZ is used to limit the input current, the registers also serves for this function.

Thanks!

Regards,

Juan

  • 1. In Webench, M4 is the low side boost FET; M3 is the high side boost FET. In datasheet, Q4 is the high side boost FET. For high side boost FET, they both have source pin to SW2 connection.
    2. /PROCHOT is an output pin to report and /PROCHOT event. Detail can be found in datasheet. If you don't use it, leave it floating.
    3. The independent comparator is free for any customer's design purpose. If don't use it, connect CMPIN to ground and leave CMPOUT floating.
    4. If OTG is not use, connect this pin to ground.
    5. Yes. ADC result can be read out through SMBus
    6. ILIM_HIZ function can be found in datasheet. In default, the charger will pick the lower current setting between register setting and ILIM_HIZ setting.
