TPS568215: Inductor Selection 3.3v vs 5.v

Part Number: TPS568215

Hi Everyone,

Im building a power supply (12v source) that uses two tps568215's, one for 3.3v and one for 5v, current usage is about 5a for each.

Would it be possible to use the same inductor on both 3.3v and 5v outputs to reduce BOM costs without any issue?

If its any help, I'm looking at Pulse PA4341.252NLT at the moment.

Many Thanks,
Chris.

  • Hi,

The inductor is not the unique selection but usually will impact the current ripple, efficiency, loop performance as well as cost.

For you case, it's ok to choose this 2.5uH/7A inductor just suggest to run at 800kHz to make the current ripple smaller.
