TLC5971: Auto Update Feature

Part Number: TLC5971

I'm new to using this chip, and I have a couple of questions:

1) If I set the DSPRPT bit to "1", will the TLC5971 continue to PWM the outputs as long as the internal oscillator (when enabled) operates?  So it can be "set-and-forget"?

2) Is there any way to determine the internal oscillator output? I'm asking because the datasheet has a pretty wide min/max window on the oscillator.

Thanks

Tony

  • Hi, Tony,

    1) You're correct. If you set auto repeat on, it will repeat the total display period without a BLANK bit change, as long as the GS reference clock is
    available.

    2) The internal oscillator frequency cannot be selected and if you need an accurate frequency, you can use SCKI to choose external clock.
