BQ34Z100-G1: Replaceable Battery System

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100

Hello,

i want to use the Bq34z100-G1 as Host-Side Gas Gauge for 12 cell Lead Acid Batteries.

If i disconncet the battery and reconnect the SOC is changed around 5%-10%.

How does the Bq34z100 calculate the new SOC? Must be the battery in relaxed condition?

What can i do, that the system is more reliable?

Regards

  • Hello,
Upon insertion of the battery, the gauge takes an OCV measurement and runs a remaining capacity simulation to predict the SOC. So yes, upon battery insertion the battery must be in a relaxed condition. That is the draw back of host -side gauging.

    thanks
