TPS54620: Current Measuring with COMP pin?

Part Number: TPS54620

I want to measure the current of multiple tps54620 devices on our board.

Can I use the COMP pin to get a measure of the output current?

For a 1V output from 12V the COMP pin is 0.364V (with DMM).
Can we then use the 16 A/V value in the datasheet to get the output current?

It would seem the current value using this method is too high.

  • No you really cannot do that. The COMP pin voltage is directly related to the peak switch current, but that relationship is not tightly defined. In a closed loop circuit, the actual intermediate voltage value such as COMP are not important so long is it is in its operating voltage range (so long as it is not railed out high or low). The voltage will self adjust so that the TPS54620 remains in regulation for a given output current. Only the gain (16 A/V) is important.
