bq78350-R1 configuration on BQ76930EVM used with BQ76200

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, TIDA-00792, BQ78350-R1

Hi, so I was able to properly power up the board and I was able to properly hook up the driver board as well, but I am having an issue getting the battery to discharge/charge. From what was stated earlier, the boards react to the environment on whether it should charge or discharge, but when I attach a series of resistors to the PACK+/- terminals of the 200' board, the software is very inconsistent and it does not draw current from the battery. I am using a 16000 mAh battery that has 6 cells and 22.2 V and discharges at 20C. Are there any particular settings on the bqstudio software that I need to set so the boards operate correctly? Thank you for the help.

  • Hi Shelby,
The bq78350-R1 will require configuration through bqStudio to properly monitor and gauge the attached cells and allow current flow. See the technical reference manual. Also the assembly you describe is similar to TIDA-00792 (with fewer cells), the setup described in the design guide may be helpful. If you still have questions the experts in this gas gauge forum will be better able to assist you.
