BQ24105: BQ24105RHLR - IC BATT CHARGER MULTI-CHEM 20QFN

Part Number: BQ24105

Help!  Trying to figure out if it is the part issue or something else.  Parts confirmed to be authentic and genuine .  We use two chip's serial number with a single production. First serial number is: TI79J and second serial number is: TI7BK.  Second serial number is: TI7BK is all passed and all first serial number, TI79J, is all fail. The first serial number present problem at first stage, when we power on and connect the battery.Other part, we saw, random because the first time we connect the battery is all ok, and we disconnect the battery. But if we retested after a few minutes or seconds, then power on application and only disconnect battery or with battery without disconnected, DUT fails in is function.  Can anyone help to shed some light to the potential issue or lead me to the right direction?  Is this part tent to have a lot of issue?

Thanks

Dan

  • Additional issue:
The battery is detected but the peak voltage in which the charge has to be terminated is not detected.
If the battery is disconnected during the charging phase the device does not recognize the battery's absence and leaves the charging status, pin STAT1 low level; only POWER OFF reset the charging status.
  • Hi Dan,

I have not heard similar problem before on this device. Lets get to the source of this. First I would need the schematic for this design. Please upload here. Also, provide what is your input source voltage and battery voltage/chemistry.

Is there any system connected directly to the battery? If yes, where is it connected? Before or after the sense resistor?

Is there any other additional circuitry than can interfere with the charger?

If you can, take a scope shot of FB pin, VIN voltage and VBAT voltage when connecting and disconnecting the battery. I want to see if there is any abnormality on these scope shots that can create this issue.

    Regards,
    Steven
