Starterware/BQ24773: How to determine the end of battery charge

Part Number: BQ24773

Tool/software: Starterware

My battery voltage is 11.4V. When I start charging, battery voltage almost instantly rises to 12V. How can I determine my battery charge?

  • bq24773 is a host control charger which follows the host controller's command to enable or disable the charge. So, the host controller or gas gauge IC can report the state of charge.

  • Yes that's what I'm trying to do and I have a ADC on my host.
But how do I know the actual battery charge at the time it is charged if bq24773 changes the voltage level?

  • "How can I determine my battery charge?"
That is the host controller's work.
If there is a gas gauge IC, the host controller can communicate with the gauge IC to get the charge voltage and current.
If no gauge IC, do you want the host read the charge voltage info or charge current info? If you want to know the charge current, please use the ADC to sense bq24773's IBAT pin and set the IBAT reflect the charger current from the charge option register.
