High temperature PMIC for AM57XX ARM Processor

We have an application that requires an extended temperature (Up to 105C operating) power management system for a Sitara AM5728 processor. All the online literature suggests that use of the TPS659037 PMIC is mandated.

Is there an extended temperature version of this PMIC available?

Does TI have any recommended solution for power management of the AM5728 in high temperature environments?

What are the likely effects of using an alternative PMIC e.g. TPS650250-QI to power the AM5728?

Hello Ed,

When you say "operating temperature", do you mean ambient or junction? TPS659037 supports 85C ambient and 125C junction temperature.
I understand the AM572x processors only support up to 105C junction temperature, so I think it doesn't support 105C ambient. In that case, TPS659037 should meet the requirements.

By operating temperature I mean the maximum temperature rating of the device as quoted in the device datasheet, which I assume is junction temperature?

To add a little detail; we intend to run the AM5728 in ambient conditions that are close to it's rated junction temperature (+105C).

Are you saying that this wont be possible with the TPS659037? Is the difference in ambient and junction temperature really +20C??

Ed,

The TPS659037 will functionally and parametrically work up to 125C junction temp. You do need to make sure the internal power consumption is low enough so that Tj <= 125C in your ambient conditions. We have a power estimation tool to help estimate this. The difference between Ta and Tj can be more than 20C depending on total loading of the PMIC.
