Hello,

Would you please tell me if there is a components that pin to pin compatible with the LM338K and that provide more than 5A in output?

    Hi Said,

    The only linear regulator we have that is rated for greater than 5A in a single package is TPS759; however, it is not pin to pin compatible. Typically for higher current applications two or more LDOs are paralleled. The following TI-Design gives an example of how this can be done www.ti.com/.../tidu421.pdf

    Hi Ryan,

    Thank you for your quick reply.

    We have an equipement wich feeds the motor of a door, the peak current exceeds 15A.

    In the equipement there are 3 LM338K in parallel.

    The problem is that after a few years the component (LM338K) breaks down.

    That why i think if there is an equivalent component that provide more than 5A can resolve the problem.
