BQ25120: Using the shipping mode as "Standard off mode"

Part Number: BQ25120

Hi there,

we're planning to use the BQ25120A when it is available for one of our applications (as it should fix the problem with not going into shipping mode correctly under some circumstances). This leads me an my colleagues to a questing regarding the shipping mode: can it be used as some kind of standard off mode? So can we go to this mode whenever we want to turn off the system, draining lowest current from the battery? We'd then wake it up again with a pushbutton or by charging... Or is this mode only foreseen to be used for extending shelf life, exiting once in the product life time? What is the recommendation for this?

Thank you very much,

Reinhard

  • Hello,
Ship mode can be used as off mode. You can also use Hi-Z mode if you only want the SYS output to be on. The only thing to note is that to turn the device back on, you cant use a MCU. You can only use the Pushbotton or VIN.
