BQ76PL455A: bq76PL455A / Diode and capacitor between VSENSE0 and AGND

Part Number: BQ76PL455A

Hi,

I know that you recommend to add diode and capacitor between VSENSE0 and AGND, then please let me ask following question.

  1. Can you explain the purpose of these diode and capacitor?
  2. In the layout of EVM, it looks that  these components are located near (under) PL455A, then please let me know the effect to locate them near PL455A.

Best Regards,

Satoshi / Japan Disty

  • Hi Satoshi,

Diodes D1 and D2 are there to serve  a couple purpose. The main being  that they help the IC survive hot plug, and can provide  a connection in the event of a wire connection breaking.

The  cap is there to act as  a filter for Vsns 0.

In general, it  is good to  have the  filter caps close to the pin to keep parasitic values to  a minimum. I think there is more  flexability with the diode placement.
