WEBENCH® Tools/TPS54560: TPS54040 and TPS54560

Part Number: TPS54560
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54040

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello,

I used WEBENCH to design a 24 volt power supply (using TPS54560).  VinMin=30V and VinMax=40V with a max out of 5amp (typically drawing 2 amps with max peck of 3 amps).

And I used WEBENCH to design a 5 volt power supply (using TPS54040).  VinMin=30V and VinMax=40V with a max out of 0.5amp (typically drawing less than 0.5 amps).

I want to use the suggested parts & layout, but i'm afraid that the capacitor values are too small, I would be happy to receive a confirmation that design are "good to go" and I can use the suggested parts ?

Thanks and Regards,

Shai Berman

  • Webench does like to pick a relatively small amount of output capacitance. You may want a little more. It depends on your transient load requirements. Can you post your Webench designs and estimate your load step requirements?
  • Hello,

The use of the TPS54560 is for 3 motors which are drawing around 2 amp (maybe with 3 amp peaks) .
There is no continuous work of the motor (only for the purpose of replacing the cartridge in the machine, relatively short operation).
The use for TPS54040 is for the MCU and some small sensors which are probably will not go higher than 0.5 amp.

Both of the TPS Will receive 36v from an AC / DC wall adapter.
Please let me know if you need more info?
