BQ34110: BQ34110 for NiMH, using alkaline battery?

Hi,

We are using the BQ34110 Fuel gauge with NiMH batteries in our system. We are wondering what can happen or if the fuel gauge will detect if someone put alkaline batteries in the product instead of NiMH batteries?

Is it possible to detect it?

Here is a posting that discusses this topic. The gauge will detect the alkaline cell, but the parameters should be adjusted to support the alkaline cell for gauging accuracy.

Thank you, I've seen this thread but I'm just asking if there is a way with the BQ34110 to detect if someone have put alkaline battery by mistake...

No, the gauge does not support that. The alkaline cell will have a similar voltage range and it would be recognized.
