BQ76930: BQ76930 CELLBAL1 & CELLBAL2 register

Part Number: BQ76930

Hi,

In the BQ76930 data sheet, the control bits for cell balancing are spread across two registers CELLBAL1, CELLBAL2. May I understand if the CELLBAL1 & CELLBAL2 have atomic access?

Thanks,

Christina

  • Hi Christina,

The basic HW implementation of the of CELLBAL1 and CELLBAL2 register is 8bit(single byte register) with separate addresses. Hence 2 separate Write is needed to ON and OFF.  Depending on how the I2C is implemented in the system, the host should be able to READ the value sequentially with the respective ADDR.

The VCx-HI and VCx_LO registers are HW implemented as 16bit (2-byte registers).

Also refer to SLUA775 application note as to how the Scheduler changes the time slice during the CELL BAL=ON and CELL BAL=OFF. Cell balancing and measurements are independent.

    hope this helps out.

    thanks
