bq76PL536A: maximum current for cells using this battery monitor

Part Number: BQ76PL536A

We would like to use this part to monitor cell voltage and balance several li-ion cells (<6 cells).  We have a question about the current limitations for this part.  If we were to use a charge current of 30A for a string of cells in series, would this exceed any limits for this circuit?  We did not see any material mentioning maximum current for the cells or power supply.

  • Hi Eric,

As long as you follow our design recommendations and general best practices, our part should have no problem. It is a monitor, so it is "removed" from the high current path so to speak. Most problems we see come from noise coupling in from the charge/discharge currents.
