WEBENCH® Tools/LM5145: LM5145

Part Number: LM5145

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Gentlemen,

I am designing 48v to 24v synchro buck using LM5145.

I found 2 IT design tools:

1. Webench

2. LM5145 Synchronous Buck Controller Design Tool LM5145DESIGN-CALC (excel based);

By entering the same initial parameters, component and compensation design values I get different results. Like different crossover frequencies

Question:

What tool is more accurate?

thanks

  • Hi Vladimir,

    WEBENCH gives a crossover frequency of approximately 10% of switching frequnecy for the LM5145 controller design. Meanwhile, the LM5145 Excel quickstart tool allows the user to set the crossover frequency (recommendation is 10-20% of Fsw). Note that if ceramic output capacitance is used, the value should be derated for applied voltage (typically 50%) - this affects the compensation value calculations.

    Regards,

    Tim
