TPS543B20: Over Current protection threshold tolerance

Are Min -15% and Max +15% guaranteed value or reference value? And also, are those the value at over temperature range?

On the datasheet P.9, ICLMP_Lo is min 5.5A, typ 6.5A, Max 7.5A at 25 degC. This is -15% and Max 15% at 25 degC.
So I thought OC threshold tolerance becomes over 15% at over temperature range.

The +/- 15% appears to be over temperature, but the ICLMP values, which are also +/- 15% are at 25 C. I'll see if I can get clarification on that.

The tolerance (+/-15%) is included over the temperature range.  The internal current source is trimmed and compensated with Rdson variation. Please refer to page 18 of datasheet for more details.

I understood the OCP threshold tolerance is +/-15% at over temperature range.

I think ICLMP_LO is minimum OCP threshold that we can set. According to datasheet, this tolerance is +/-15% at 25degC.
However this tolerance become +/-15% at over temperature range. Is this my understand correct?

Hello Sasaki-san,

ICLMP_LO has variation 5.5A to 7.5A at 25C. When the temperature range is outside 25C range, the variation of ICLMP_LO will be higher.

The +/-15% tolerance at higher current was target trimmed over the temperature range in the production part.

OCP threshold tolerance is within +/-15% at high current setting range over than 20A.
However OCP threshold tolerance becomes larger than +/-15% at lower current setting range.

Due to the test time limit for the production parts, we target and trim at 20A to meet +/- 15% tolerance over the temperature range. We don't have all the production data at all the current range.

May I ask the output current range that designing for this part?

Our customer is thinking to use this part for 8A to 20A load.
So we would like to know OCP threshold tolerance in the range of more than 10A.
If OCP threshold tolerance is tight, we can use small inductor. So our customer is thinking it is advantage.

For 10A, the tolerance is +/-20%. For 20A, the tolerance is +/-15%.

Is OCP threshold tolerance at over temperature range of TPS543C20 the below?
35A or higher: +/-10%
25A to less than 35A: +/-15%

less than 15A: +/-25%

TPS543B20: Since the customer has 8A as minimum, I would not recommend to set the OCP below 10A. We don't have the data over temperature below 10A.

TPS543C20: +/-10% for 35A or higher, +/-15% for 25A to 35A. 15A to 25A is reasonable assumption. I need to check the data for less than 15A and get back to you.
