BQ20Z95: bqEval software Chem ID table not being updated

Part Number: BQ20Z95

Hello,

I'm running bq Evaluation software V0.9.90 and the current Chem Updater version is 464.  I'm trying to update my Chem ID database using the files in "Gas Gauge Chemistry Updater Setup v5.84 (Rev. FJ) 03AUG2017".   When I run the "ChemicalUpdater-584-windows-installer.exe" file, everything seems to go fine.  But when I go into the Eval software and go the Chemistry Selection Table, the version is still 464 and nothing was updated.  Can someone help me get the Chem ID's updated?

Thanks for your help,

Kevin

    Did you try using this?

The file you are trying to use seems to be that for bqstudio and bq20z95 isn't supported on bqstudio.

    thanks

  • Hi Onyx,

I looked at your link but I already have the default senc file and I know how to update Chem ID of a fuel gauge pack.  What I'm trying to do is get an up to date Chem ID database within the bqEVSW program.  What file do I need to do this when using the bqEVSW program?

    Thanks for your help,

    Kevin

  • Kevin
Did you use the Run as Administrator option when loading the chemistry database? Also, did you close the bqEVSW program before running the setup file?
  • Hi,

The computer user is already set up as the administrator and the bqEVSW was closed prior to running the set up file.

I've tried updating the Chem ID database on various computers (as administrator).  All of these operating systems (WinXP, Win7, Win10) will not update the Chem ID database using the "584 windows installer" file I mentioned earlier.

    Any help is appreciated,

    Kevin

  • I found an older installer file "557" and this file installed and updated the Chem ID database but file "584" will not update the Chem database within the bqEVSW.

    See above image.

The flies shown on top are for the "584" installer and the files shown on the bottom are for the "557" installer.

You will notice that the .exe file for "584" is 3,997KB and the .exe for "557" is 309,052KB.  That is quite a bit of difference in size of these files.  Not sure if this has anything to do with the issue or not.  Just wanted to share if it helps.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  • TI recently found that bqStudio could only support chemistry updater files that have less than 2000 ChemIDs and the latest datasbases exceeded this number. They released new bqStudio programs to allow the  database to support more ChemIDs. The bqEVSW program may have the same problem. I will check with TI to see if this could be the problem.

  • I think you're on to something.  I looked at the Excel spreadsheet.  The "584" file has 2015 Chem ID's and the "557" file as 1883 Chem ID's.  Thank you for looking into this.  Kevin

  • Hello.....have you been able to get a response from TI?.......thanks.

  • TI said that the version 584 chemistry database is corrupted and needs to be rebuilt. I do not have a schedule on when it will be updated. The bqEVSW program should be okay.
