TPS65132: VPOS startup time

Part Number: TPS65132

Hi BU team,

Our customer are using tps65132b0, the typical startup time for VPOS is 140us according to the datasheet. some panel have the requirement for VPOS/VNEG startup. they want to know the minimum start up time for VPOS, could you help to check on this?

Regards

Luke

  • Hello Luke,
Let me try to get an answer for you, but this might take some days.
    Best regards,

  • Hi Brigitte,

Customer confirmed the minimum startup time for VPOS is 140us. Could you help to check this value asap. Customer need to check with the driver IC vendor if there's more margin with the driver IC.

    Thanks

    Luke

  • Hello Luke,

The startup time of VPOS is dependent on several factors:
    - Is VNEG already enabled (then the boost converter is up and running and therefore VPOS only needs to enable the LDO)?
    - Which inductor is used (the startup with a 4.7uH inductor is faster than with a 2.2uH inductor because at startup the current is limited and the same current gets more energy in a 4.7uH inductor)?
    - What is the input voltage (higher input voltage make the startup faster)?
    - What is the temperature at which the system starts (lower temperature makes MOSFETs stronger)?

Dependent on these factors, the startup time can be longer or shorter. The biggest impact is if VNEG is already enabled or not. If it is not enabled, the startup time will be for sure longer than 140 us (a lot longer). If ENN is already enabled and we count the startup time from the moment when ENP goes high until ENP is in regulation, this time is as well longer then 140us.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
