Hi,

I would like to use two TPS40210 to design a dual power supply for +90V@2A and -90V@2A. From WEBENCH ® Design Tool, it can only give me a result for +90V@2A. My question is that Could I use inverting +90V@2A for an negative -90V power suplly?

What I meant is: one TPS40210 +90V@2A circuit for +90V and another TPS40210 circuit for negative -90V. Both of circuits provide +/-90V@2A to a Op-Amp.

Please advise!

For inverting voltage you need a buck controller instead of a boost controller. A buck controller has a high side driver and it can implement an inverting buck-boost topology. I will forward your question to a colleague to propose a buck controller to you.

If you are considering a buck configured as an inverter, the vin Max of the device used must be rated to Vin+Vout. for example. A +12V in to -12V out must use a device whose Vinmax>24V. We only have buck devices rated to 100V vin max. Therefore I would recommend using a boost device as a non-isolated Flyback assuming that your Vin>10V for a -90V output?

In original design, TPS40210-Q1 was used for generating +90V@2A with input voltage at +12Vdc on an Op-Amp. But, in the new design, an additional -90V@2A with the same input +12Vdc is required to drive the same Op-Amp. It is also preferrable to use the same controller such as TPS40210-Q1 for generating -90V@2A to the Op-Amp. Is it doable using additional boost controller circuitry with inverting the output? Pls advise!
