BQ25896: BQ25896

Part Number: BQ25896

Hi Teams

My customer meet a surge problem from BQ25896 BAT pin. They had add surge protect component already. The test result is surge component OK but BQ25896 broken can't charge.

My question is that if they can add BAT Capacitor value from 10uF to 22uF ( bat is 4000mAh and charge with 2A )? They say if add to 22uF, surge will OK.

What value is the MAX value or the BAT capacitor? I didn't find some sentence mention about it in the datasheet.

Thanks for answer~

Best Regards,

Bruce

  • Bruce,

Since the battery is essentially a big capacitor, you can add additional capacitance in parallel. Increasing from 10uF to 22uF is no problem.
  • Hi Jeff
    Thank you so much.
So BAT pin cap value will not influence battery detect when we take off battery during charging?
In my experience in the old desige this cap value will influence Q4 on/off function.
    Thank you
    Best Regards,
    Bruce
