LMR14050: What is the behavior of LMR14050 when reverse biased?

Part Number: LMR14050

The data sheet doesn't specify what LMR14050 does when reverse biased -- i e, 5V on the VOut, and disconnected/floating on the VIn.

My guess would be that it behaves like a MOSFET body diode -- is this a safe assumption? If so, what is the Vf drop of that diode?

  • There is a diode from VIN to SW, cathode on VIN.  This is actually a parasitic device and not just a "diode".

That means that it should not be forward biased under any conditions.  Since this can turn on a parasitic

device that may cause unexpected behavior and/or damage the device.  Unfortunately, this behavior is not normally

characterized, so we can not say what level of current may be a problem; we can only recommend that this diode should not

be forward biased in a power down situation.
