TPS65233: Disabling Outputs

Part Number: TPS65233

HI;

We are using I2C to control the TPS65233. will low signal on EN/ADDR line pull the output to GND or it is just for addressing?

How about bit 3 of the Control Register, value "0" disables the output, does it mean it connects the output to GND?

Regagrds;

Karo

  • Hi; Second question: we want to give our customer options: either having the product with or without LNB and with LNB we need to provide an extra power supply assemblies, so naturally if customer doesn't need the LNB we are not going to provide this supply.
    Can we leave the LNB circuit if VIN is floating? will this act as stud on the RF path?

    Regards;

  • Hi, Karo

    1. If want to use I2C to control TPS65233, you shoud set bit7=1 in control 1 register, then EN/ADDR pin is just used for addressing.

    2. Yes, if set bit3=0, the VLNB will be pulled to GND.

  • Hi, Karo

    1. What is the extra power supply assemblies? what is it including?
    2. What is the stud on the RF path?
  • Hi Zhao;

    Thank you for the response. As I mentioned VLNB feature is optional and our product can have up to 32 inputs with each input providing up to 500 mA current to VLNB receiver, which will make it 16x5 = 80 W.

    So we need >100W supply + supporting circuits (voltage / temperature monitoring and etc...), so this supply assembly is expensive. the supply is plug-in standalone assembly with a dedicated bay in the

    chassis, so pending from customer requirements this supply can be installed or not.

    Regarding stud, I attached our schematic and I'm not sure how the floating VIN will effect the RF path.

    Can VCC pin be connected to another 5V source, so when VIN is absent, then VCC can power on the logic section of the chip and we can disable the output?

    Regards;

  • Hi, Karo

    1. From the schematic, there is big inductor L1=3.3uH on LNB_OUT, it has large impedance for RF signal, so i think the RF signla will not pass to TPS65233.

    2. Yes, you are right.

    When VCC pin is connected to external 5V source, and VIN is absent, the LNB_OUT will be pull low by internal mosfet.

  • Zhao;

    Thank you very much.
