TPS61021A: Max value of current limit

Part Number: TPS61021A

Team,

Our customer is working on TPS61021A for 1 dry cell battery system.

Then he has a question about the OC_max value.

The DS describes;

ILIM_SW Valley current limit = 3.0min / 4.3typ

<< Background >>

His application is a medical, so the external standard for the medical application must need a mechanical fuse in front of battery.

Then he have to choose the fuse capability so that OC max value is needed.

On the other hand, the DS describes also that

"At the beginning, the switching frequency and current limit are internally controlled. The load capability is limited."

So, could you share the following information ?

 (1) OC_max value

 (2) OC value (min/typ/max) at startup

In case you cannot submit the value(s), the distribution data can be also accepted.

Regarding OC value at startup, if you have any data, some design information can be also accepted.

ろしくお願いします。

Thanks and Regards,

  • Hi Kenji-san,

    (1) The OC max value is 5.6A when the input voltage is 2.4V. Since the current limit is valley current, the max average input current is 5.6A plus half of the inductor current ripple. For example, if the inductor current ripple is 1A, the max average input current is 6.1A.
    (2) There is no test data for the current limit at startup. Typically, when VIN=2.4V and VOUT<1.1V, the peak current limit is 500mA. When VIN=2.4V and 1.1V<VOUT<1.6V, the peak current limit is 1A. When VOUT is above 1.6V, the OC value is the same as the steady operation.

    thanks

    Gavin
