BQ34Z100: Bricked device after "MASS ERASE" in SLUA665

Part Number: BQ34Z100

Hi Forum.

I bricked my BQ34Z100 device during the "MASS ERASE" descriped in SLUA665.

The problem is that After the erase of the flash I lost contact to the chip and therefore wasn't able to reprogram.

So now my unseal key0 and 1 are 0xffh (Most likely) and the full access key0 and 1 are also 0xffh

As I read the forum this is not great :-( and most likely means that I need to grab my soldering iron :-( because now I can't enter full access mode only unsealed mode.

Are there really not any way back?

Br. Sten.

  • Are you able to communicae with the device still because if you can, then it means your device isn't bricked and you should be able to put the device in unsealed mode. If you do not have comms with the device then it means you have to replace your ic.

    thanks

  • Hi Onyx.

I do have comm. with the device and I'm able to get into un-seal mode. but since the pass keys now are the same for both un-seal mode and full access I can't get it into the full access mde where I can re-program the flash.

As I know it's not possible to change the pass keys from un seal mode you need to get full access... So bottom line I think i'm ****ed, and I got a small and "expensive" brik.

If you know another way to get the device back then please advise.
