BQ76PL455A: bq76PL455A / Window comparator work under communication error condition?

Hi,

I know that the window comparator work as secondary protector in case of malfunction of the AFE or ADC. Then does it also work in case of communication error condition? My customer is assuming the case of communication error between host controller and PL455A due to failure of host controller or noise on TX/RX line.

    Hi Satoshi,

    The window comparators only measure for Cell OV/UV.

    For loss of communication they should consider timeouts, then try a commclear command, then if communication time's out again they can do a comm reset. If the comm reset is done and the part still is not communicating,they can assume that communication has been lost.

    For noise, they can check CRC of the packets. They can calculate the expected CRC, and see if it matches the CRC computed internally by the pl455.

    They can also  read back registers to ensure that the expected value was written.
