My customer is currently investigating an issue on some of their products where the PG pin of the bq24610 keeps ‘toggling’ while charging. The toggling rate is not very deterministic and the device appears to be charging without any problems and it does not look like it is in sleep mode. We have verified that the VCC > SRN (VCC = 14.9V, SRN = 13.7V = charge voltage, battery voltage is typical 12.7V).
Q1: in figure 18 of the datasheet (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/bq24610.pdf) it appears that the device can only enter sleep mode after a POR, but does this means it will not enter sleep mode when it has started charging? Or does it always enter sleep mode when VCC<SRN inregardless of the charger state?
Q2: Any ideas what could cause this issue and tips how to pinpoint the problem?
