TPS61199: Does TPS61199 allow different channel has different current?

Part Number: TPS61199
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61196

Hi Tiers,

I have saw someone has post the question, but no reply until now, and I currently has the same one.

Actually, I have a design that 16 channel leds, and each channel current is different, the current range is 10-50mA. So I want to select two units of TPS61199.

Does TPS61199 allow different channel has different current? if yes, how to dispose it? if not, anyone has better solution could tell me.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards

  • Hi,

The TPS61199 does not support independent current control. We'll try to find a suitable device for your application. How many LEDs per string will you be using?

    Regards,

    Angelos Tsiros

  • Hi Angelos,

Thank you for your response. And sorry for my lack of description.

Actually it is not used to deliver current to LEDs, but a component. The component has 16 pins, and each pin needed current is different(5-50mA). I want to each channel can be independent and regulated.

And my input voltage range: 5-24v. PWM dimming is better, analog dimming also can be acceptable.

Waiting for your product selection or solution.

    Thank you again.
  • hi Jenny,
Our device is basically working as a boost converter, so there is a output pin as boost output voltage. How will you connect this boost output voltage to your components?
  • Hi Caryss,

I am glad to receive your reply. With regards to the boost output voltage, due to the voltage is lower, I may directly connect the equipment, or make the resistors in series to solve the problem. Now I mainly want the regulated current needed, the circuit structure is simple, and the current precision is higher, above is all.

    Thank you!

    Best Regards

  • The TPS61199 has only a single LED current setting for all 8 channels.  They would have to use the TPS61196 for independent channel control.  Only issue might be there is only 6 channels on the TPS61196, so for 16 strings you need three devices.

    Thanks
